GROWING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

GROWING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

October 1st is International Coffee Day. A joyous occasion to celebrate and be thankful for this one of a kind, rare gift that connects us all. What better way to celebrate than by supporting the local farmers in our community whose hands work tirelessly, for a more prosperous and sustainable future.

Everyday now, more  of us wake up each morning ready to kick-start the day with a fresh brewed cup of perfection called coffee. In fact we consume an estimated 3 billion cups of the good stuff each and every day! It has become an essential part of our routine and as a society we depend on coffee for networking, socializing and occasionally getting things done. Espresso, cortado, latte, cappuccino, iced or frozen…let me count the many ways to say “I love you”!  No matter how you like your brew, we can all agree on the positive, life-changing global impact coffee has had on our culture.

As part of our ongoing commitment to our community and the future of our island’s agriculture, we ask that you join us in our mission to restore Puerto Rico’s farmland by continuing to support funding through the Gustos FoundationWe’re taking the necessary steps to further along the restoration process with strong , locally grown trees that are being donated freely to 100 currently registered farmers from Yauco, who will each in turn receive a minimum of 1,000 ready-to-plant coffee trees. That totals to a wonderful 100,000 coffee trees planted. We realize we have such a long way to go and hundreds of thousands more coffee trees must be planted in order to restore a percentage of our farmlands. Our goal is to continue to increase the number of registered farmers and the farmlands we positively impact through this beautiful effort so we may all benefit from living in a brighter tomorrow.

As an extra Thank You, during October 1st our Miramar and Matadero coffee shops will be gifting you with a free coffee drink upon your purchase donation of the Gustos Foundation pin, whose proceeds all go towards benefiting farmers directly.
